A day at the beauty parlor

Today we took the goats that J is taking to the fair to the beauty parlor. It was time to get their hair done and get a good pedicure. It was a bit stressful, but they looked smashing with their new hair style and lovely feet.

"Don't I look smashing!"

"Maybe you should use those clippers on yourself!"

A farmer's work is never done. :) Your goat looks smashing, indeed.

Cute post! Did you build that stand? Is that also used when the goats are milked, or just for beauty and barber shop do's. You can tell I know next to nothing about glamorous milk goats, but find it all very interesting.

I wonder if the goat is relaxed as I am after a mani pedi day.

I've never been with goats having a pedicure but I have been with cows - and I think it can be a wonderfully liberating experience for them (especially for one I knew who tended to have what looked like crossed toes).

And the people who see to the 'beauty' needs of animals. (Hmm!) often have to be extraordinarily strong. Keeping a sheep still while upright is pretty incredible . . . using clippers at the same time - well!

Your goat thingy . . . (not exactly a crush?) looks very civilised and calm.

The stand is for milking primarily, but it is good for anything we need to contain the goats. I did build it my self (with help from R, he is a great board holder!) As for the calmness, it comes from the rewards they receive for standing still on the milk stand. They seem pretty happy today. It is warm and muggy so I'm sure the short hair is nice.

Love it, Alan! I am SO jealous. I can't tell you how much I want a pair of milking goats!!! But I'd have to rip out my Cultivated Wild Meadow to make room for them, and I haven't been able to bring myself to do that... yet. When one acre is simply not enough!!!
