Coshocton County Fair 2009

The Fair is over!

Peace and sanity are descending on our home.

Interesting, almost forgotten activities (like sleep, school, meals with real food,...) will soon resume.

The children and the goats did brilliantly. For us the County Fair is mostly about animals. The State Fair happens in August so all the non-animal 4H projects are completed and judged in time to send the winners to state. We went this year with JJ's archery project. It was fun, but nothing like the Junior Fair Livestock Show at the County Fair. Our County Fair was the first week of October this year. It was cold, rainy, fall like. Perfect fair weather.

JJ and RR each took goats, a production doe and a senior kid doe. They both did well in showmanship, with JJ taking senior showmanship and just losing to her friend G for Supreme Showmanship. Her goats also won Best Dairy Doe, Best Dairy Kid, and Grand Champion Dairy Doe. RR got second in his division for showmanship, second with his dairy kid, and fifth for his doe (My fault on that one. She wasn't the doe we should have taken to the fair, but the one he wanted didn't get bred in time to make the production class. Maybe next year.)

We all had a great time, feel exhausted, and glad it's done. Maybe tomorrow I'll have time and energy for posting pictures.
