You're so right, Alan! I think it's easy to overlook local elections, especially if you live somewhere you didn't grow up and none of the folks running for election are known to you at all. So much simpler to vote for the national elections! Yet these locla pols are the folks that enact the legislation that affects you where you live. Our paper has a website today where voters can read all about the candidates and their stands on locally important issues, so there's no excuse not to inform yourself and vote!
