The worms came today!
It was very exciting, at first. Then I remembered that I still had a little work to do on my worm bins. I did it though.
I had to drill holes in one that I hadn’t done yet. 
For my experiment we are focusing on weight.
So, we were separating the worms (1000 of them) into two bins. We had to measure out half of them for each bin.
In other words we (I) had to get in that bag of 1000 worms and pull them of the bag and measure out half the worms. 
I have to admit that when I saw that bag of worms I didn’t really want to do it. So I could get the feel for it my dad pulled out one worm and placed on my hand. 
(I also have to admit that it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be). 
That’s the end of my first day with the worms. 
They are all settled in. Now I just have to figure out how to keep up with our 1000 extra house guests.

That was a lot of newspaper, for those of you who are thinking about doing a worm farm here’s a tip, if you are using newspaper and are shredding it before hand plan on shredding at least twice the amount per bin, I made that mistake while doing it.

JC's littel brother BC would have loved to come and help you with the worms. He currently has to dig in the garden for them and that is a lot of work! What a dream come true to have a 1000 worms without the digging- (and hours of entertainment). Looking forward to more information about your science experiement.
Wow JJ. Love the photos. So neat to have a thousand worms in one place. Growing up we had a friend who used worms to compost. It was really neat to open the bins and see all the work the worms had done! I wonder if he still does it. Keep us posted on your progress.

We are having a lot of rain in Kentucky, and when I looked out this morning the robins were gobbling up rain soaked earthworms. I think your project is a very good idea, and I am interested in following your progress and results. Thank you for sharing with us!
My gardening friend said, "I believe that worm escapes have to do with what kind of worms you use. We use red wrigglers, which don’t like light, specifically to keep them in the right place. (I fortunately read something about this before we started.)"

Great post and good luck with your worms. We use a worm bin to compost all our kitchen waste and it's amazing how much they can work through once they get settled in. Keep us posted!
