Tonight at dinner the next test of democracy came up and the Gang of Four was back in action. Our wee pony is still officially nameless. We can't decide. Normally the kids have the extra vote in naming critters here at the Roost, but horses and ponies can live for a LONG time. A name that sounded cute when you were 8 might not be one you want to live with when you are 18. So, since 4 is not enough to really let mob rule (oops I mean DEMOCRACY) shine, we are putting it out for you to vote. Please select the name you think would be best for our wee pony.

I guess 'Hope' didn't make the final cut......
how about "Benefactor"? you can call him "Benny" or "Ben" for short. politicians need benefactors...years from now the name might remind your family about all the roles in your mini-democracy.
or is he a she? you can name her "patron" and call her "patty" for short.

Interesting choice of names. :) I'm glad to see none of them are common ones. This is a great post and lesson for the kids on democracy at its finest,lol.
I tried to vote on the listed choices but for some reason I kept getting error messages. I'm solidly for Brigid. I cna't really explain it except she looks like her name should be Brigid. It is a she, right?

How about you read the name choices to the pony and see which one gets the best response? (lol, that's like letting the kids choose, right?) ha

How about Auburn? You could have many fun nicknames: Abby, Bernie, Abu Wabby.
Or maybe Henna? She looks just like the color of henna that my daughter used to put on her hair. Then you could call her Henny Penny when she's acting like a chicken.
So is getting a horse when you live on a farm sort of like getting a dog if you live in town?
